THE REHABILITATION CENTER - "Mercy Home"

HHI has been running a Rehabilitation Center - 'Mercy Home' which provides a comfortable and progressive life for the helpless. Here we not only provide hope but also a loving home for them. The day to day operations of the center is met by gifts , donations from well wishes and by the support of the founder.

At present the rehabilitation center is in a rented Home housing various people under one roof. Here we have old women, mothers with children, young girls, girls who have suffered abuse, Schizophrenics & destitute women.

GENERAL BACK GROUND OF OUR RESIDENTS

Long stay :

Women who are deserted by their family
Rehabilitated vulnerable women and their children
Single parent Children

Short stay :

Those who need to stay away from their family for a short period of time
Those who are depressed and on medication who require monitoring.

BASIC NEEDS

Basic Needs like shelter, food, clothing & medical aids are provided

EDUCATION

The trust lays great emphasis on the education of young boys and girls. Boys after 10th grade are admitted in residential schools/colleges. Girls are encouraged to finish at least under graduation. More than 30 under privileged boys and girls have been rehabilitated into the society with proper education.
Additional technical education are also given.

TRAINING PROGRAMS

We believe in empowering women with confidence and self-reliance. To that end, the residents are given training such as phenyl making, tailoring, cookery classes, music, computer classes and spoken english.

RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS

Regular audio and video shows

Puppet show for children

Indoor games like carom, chess etc.

Refreshing visits to the beach and other leisure destinations.

REACHING OUTSIDE THE CENTER

Besides our efforts at the Home, we also constantly lookout to help people who are in need

The Blind : We help them with cash, to meet some of their basic needs.

The Disabled : We provide help for some needy families with their monthly
    provisions.

We also provide a helping hand for some poor children towards their fees,
    education and clothing.

We coordinate with leaders and doctors concerned and help in the
    betterment of sex workers and HIV patients, by arranging counseling sessions
    and audio visual programs.

We visit rural areas and educate children on moral standards and cleanliness.

We conduct regular camps, workshops, for the awareness of diseases, etc.
    among the uneducated.
